The Sonnax Powerglide Pinion Pin Kit for the 1.76 ratio carrier28435K combines a high strength bearing grade pinion pin with a unique locking device to ensure longer life and fewer failures caused by the pinion binding. Deflection of the carrier caused by loose or weak pins is a common cause of failure in the Powerglide, and the Sonnax Pinion Pin Kit 28435K was designed to eliminate deflection failure and permit hassle-free installation. Unlike other pinion pins, this kit does not rely on sheet metal retainers or require drilling and tapping of the carrier. The unique offset pin locates in the existing OEM and aftermarket carrier groove, solidly keying the pinion pin in place. Installation of the high strength cap screw with 222 LoctiteŽ permits the rebuilder to lightly preload the carrier and maintain a secure, but serviceable assembly. All pinion pins are made of durable bearing grade steel. They are specially quenched, tempered and precision ground to produce a bearing journal capable of withstanding the high loads and velocities expected in a drag racing Powerglide. The solid construction of the pins resists axial expansion of the carrier. The thrust washers are extra thick and case hardened. The retaining bolts are made of high strength alloy steel and are engineered for 150,000 PSI minimum yield. Sonnax 28435K contains 6 each: pinion pins, thrust washers and retaining screws.
