Sonnax has designed a washer 34301-078 (.015" oversized) & 34301-094 (.030" oversized) to take up the play between the forward clutch hub and the direct clutch housing. This will allow the front unit endplay to be reduced. In addition, the direct drum will be stabilized, reducing delayed reverse and improving 2-3 clutch circuit. A pump that has been resurfaced or accumulated spline wear creates a condition of travel of the forward or direct clutch drums. This reduces sealing ring, clutch, bearing, and thrust washer life. Having the ability to shim both the lower unit sun gear with Sonnax shim 34500-Z to reduce total unit endplay, and the addition of Sonnax washer 34301-078 or 34301-094 allows salvaging valuable hard parts.
