A burned or complete failure of the direct clutch on the THM 350 transmission can be caused by accumulator cross leaks. These complaints can be caused by oil cross leakage between the piston and pin in the direct clutch accumulator assembly located in the valve body. This is due to the constant oscillating motion of the aluminum accumulator piston on the steel pin. The problem occurs when direct clutch oil and intermediate oil circuits cross leak. By reaming the piston bore with the Sonnax reamer included in the 35718-02K kit, the bore is re-established restoring the hydraulic integrity of the assembly with use of the oversized pin. The kit also contains an extra retaining clip to assist in holding the accumulator pin in the valve body. This is much less expensive than replacing the accumulator piston and more durable than a bushing. Starter kit 35718-02K, includes 10 pins, 20 rings & 1 reamer.
