Vehicles with an AODE and 4R70W transmission frequently have torque converter clutch apply and release problems as well as oil loss in various circuits. The sealing ring area on the input shaft can cause severe wear of the stator support, allowing oil circuit cross leakage. Converter release oil is fed through this area to release the TCC from the cover. When the lockup valve moves, this oil exhausts through the shaft. If the stator support bore is worn, the seals do not function properly. This can allow lube to flood the release circuit and create no lockup or shudder. Sonnax has developed a hardened steel sleeve 76204-01 that will eliminate these problems.
