Rostra’s newly designed transfer clutch solenoid for the Subaru 4EAT AWD units will correct the problem of stuck or faulty solenoids.
Normally, a complete valve body must be purchased from the dealership to fix issues associated with this transmission. Rostra is the only manufacturer offering individual solenoids that can be used to repair an existing valve body, saving a large amount of money.

This is the only optional repair for a bad transfer clutch solenoid on my 06 Outback without replacing the entire valve body. It was a challenge to arrange the pieces to install since the connector is bigger than the slot in the retaining plate. But I got it in without having to make any modifications and it is functioning well. The solenoid sits taller than the other solenoids, and the connector sticks up more but it doesn't appear to hit the pan.

Worked for MY10 Forester TZ1B
I forgot I had installed this way back in 2018!! Had the dreaded torque bind on my 2010 Forester, after trying several different solutions across the internet, I came across the aftermarket solenoid solution from Rostra and..... Presto! torque bind gone in an instant! FYI if you have been driving with torque bind for a while, chances are your transfer clutch cage is has been Grooved by the clutch discs and will be requiring sanding away the grooves or replacing the cage.
